About

This wrap was designed to look a lot more complicated than it is. I wanted to create something that I could wrap around myself on warm summer nights without adding too much warmth. I wanted it to be big so I could drape it over my arms and have a pretty lace pattern that was easy to memorize. Once I got my hands on the Galelio yarn from WeCrochet I knew it was absolutely perfect for my vision! This yarn is a sport weight (2) and is 50% merino wool and 50% viscose from bamboo. The bamboo gives the yarn an incredible drape and a slight sheen that is really pretty. For my project I chose to use the colourway Lunar.

The lace pattern is actually only a 3 row repeat and once you memorize it you’ll be flying through the pattern. I finished mine in 3 days working on it on and off, so I have no doubt you’ll be able to whip this up really quickly!

All the information you need to complete the wrap can be found below! When making it please be sure to share your work on Instagram and tag me (@by.stephanie.erin) as well as tag your pics with #MoonRiseWrap  so that I can check out your projects and you can see everyone else’s Moon Rise Wraps!

Notes

This wrap is started at the bottom long edge and worked back and forth to the top.

Pattern is easily adjustable by adding additional rows to make it taller.

If you want to adjust the length to make the wrap longer add chs in multiples of 12 to the starting chs.

Instructions

Row 1: Ch 290, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, *ch 5, sk 3 ch, sc in next. Rep from * across. Turn. (72 ch 5 sp)

Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), *sc in next ch 5 sp, 8 dc in next ch 5 sp. Sc in next ch 5 sp, ch 5. Rep from * across. Ch 2, dc in last. Turn. (24 8 dc fans)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in 1st st. *Picot in next dc, 7 times. Dc in next dc**, sc in next ch 5 sp. Rep from * across ending last rep at ** sc in 3rd ch of ch 5. Turn. (24 fans)

Row 4: Ch 8 (counts as dc and ch 5 sp), *sk 2 picots, sc in next picot. Ch 5, sk 1 picot, sc in next picot. Ch 5, dc in next sc**, ch 5. Rep from * across ending last rep at **. Turn. (72 ch 5 sp)

Rep rows 2-4 10 more times.

Rep rows 2-3.

Row 5: Ch 6 (counts as dc and ch 3 sp), *sk 2 picots, sc in next picot. Ch 3, sk 1 picot, sc in next picot. Ch 3, dc in next sc**, ch 3. Rep from * across ending last rep at **. (72 ch 3 sp)

Edging

We will now add a sc edging around the wrap to finish it and set up the edges to add fringe to if desired. The count does not need to be exact. If you wish to not count you can just sc evenly around.

When crocheting down the sides of the wrap place 3 sc in each dc and 1 sc in each ch and sc.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc 288 across top of wrap, 3 sc in last st. Sc 86 down side of wrap, 3 sc in last st. Sc 288 across bottom, 3 sc in last. Sc 86 up side of wrap, 3 sc in last st. Join with sl st to first sc made.

Fasten Off.

Finishing

Block according to fibre.

I like to soak my wrap in lukewarm water with a non rinse soap like Soak for 20 minutes. Then lay flat to dry on blocking mats or a towel.

Weave in all ends!
